2024 TRIO Summer Bridge Program Application

Eligibility Requirement:Â
- Currently accepted and plan to enroll (degree-seeking) at Metro State
- Be a U.S. citizen or legal resident
To qualify, you must demonstrate an academic need or have one of the following requirements:Â

- First-Generation College Student (neither parent has a bachelor's degree)
- Have a documented disabilityÂ

TRIO SSS Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for TRIO SSS, students must meet one or more of the following:
- Be a first-generation college student (neither parent or guardian has completed a four-year college degree)
- Meet federal income eligibility guidelines
- Have a documented disability (registered with the Center for Accessibility Resources)
Also, every applicant must:
- Be enrolled and pursuing a degree at Metro State University
- Not have earned a bachelor's degree
- Be a U.S. Citizenship or national of the United States or meets the residency requirements for Federal Student Financial Aid
- In need of academic support

I understand that I have been given the opportunity to participate in the Metropolitan State University's TRIO Student Support Services program. I understand that if I am to receive services from this program, I must accept the following responsibilities are as program participant:
- To show academic progress towards my educational goals;
- To meet with your TRIO advisor at least ONCE (1) a month;
- Participate in at least TWO (2) TRIO-sponsored event/workshop/activity each semester;
- To utilize any and all resources available to improve my college and personal success
Data Privacy Agreement: Metro State - TRIO Student Support Services program is asking you to provide information that includes private and/or confidential information under state and federal law so we can process your application. You are not legally required to provide the information we are requesting, however we may not be able to process your application if you do not provide sufficient information. With some exceptions, unless you consent to further release of private information, access to this information will be limited to school officials who have legitimate educational interests in the information. Under certain circumstances, federal and state laws authorize release of private information without your consent to federal, state or local officials for purposes of program compliance, audit or evaluation; as appropriate in connection with your application for, or receipt of, financial aid; to your parents, if your parents claim you as a dependent student for tax purposes if the information is sought with a subpoena, court order, or determine that it is necessary to collect information relevant to your participation in the program from outside sources and other college departments. The information collected will be used solely for the purpose of your participation in the TRIO Student Support Services. I release the staff of TRIO SSS from all legal responsibilities on liability that may arise from the actions I authorized.  Â
I understand that by applying for TRIO Student Student Services program. I authorize Student Support Services staff to obtain records or data pertaining to my successful participation from other sources (e.g. Academic Records, Financial Aid, Academic Advisors, Center for Accessibility Resources). Furthermore, I understand that information may be released as required by law or as requested from the U.S. Department of Education.Â

2024 TRIO Summer Bridge Course ApplicationÂ
Metro State TRIO Student Support Services program is offering a 2024 TRIO Summer Bridge course for 0-16 credits freshman. The course is called American Government and Politics (POL 101) which is four college credits. It is designed to provide college-level knowledge in American Government and Politics in an academic supportive environment.Â
It also prepares students for college demonstrating expectations and strategies for a successful transition from high school to college. This course is only open to students new to the college experience. Students MUST BE intending to continue their degree-seeking at Metro State University. Â

I am accepted to Metro State University and have earned less than 16 college credits.

I plan to be a full-time student in the fall and spring semesters and have a goal to earning a college degree.

I am able to come to in-person classes every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (9:30 - 12:20 PM) from June 24, 2024 - August 9, 2024.
